I have been involved in Stockton Scholars since my senior year in high school. I was interested in all the resources and support they offer. In addition to the scholarships, I felt like Stockton Scholars really wanted me to pursue my post-high school goals. I’m really grateful to Stockton Scholars for having faith in me.
Stockton Scholars has provided me with professional and emotional support throughout my years in college. Their supportive staff and mentorship program has not only helped me greatly but also provided me with a little bit of home away from home.

As a college success coach, I have learned how to help others when they need it most. I learned that students need different forms of guidance. Therefore, we must tailor our approach to best fit their needs. While we do focus on academic, financial, and professional development, we must also be willing to be there for them when they need an [empathetic] person to talk to. In the future, I would like to become an academic advisor at my institution. As such, I will use many of the skills I have learned as a coach in that position. Not only have I learned how to be empathetic and advocate for others, I also learned how to coordinate events, advise students, meet with campus faculty and staff, and present to large groups of people. As someone who aspires to be an advisor, I can easily use these skills as I transition from one position to the other.
SSC is resourceful with community connections and elevates our work in the surrounding community.
